Professor Barrick's interests include physical geography, environmental studies, and natural resource management. His recent research interests include nonmarket economic valuation (especially for wilderness areas), nutrient status and allocation in Rocky Mountain tree species, plant responses to extreme wind and oceanic salt spray, impacts of geothermal energy development on geysers and hot springs. He teaches courses in physical geography, map & landscape analysis, weather & climate, resources and environment, quantitative research methods, and wilderness concepts.
